Reproductive Rights 
As a pro-choice candidate Max Carter II is committed to protecting reproductive freedoms including birth control and IVF in our state constitution. Max has also made it clear he will work to pass laws to protect women who get an abortion in Nevada from being prosecuted in states like Texas and Idaho. Max is a strong supporter of women’s reproductive rights. He believes women everywhere should be able to make decisions about their own healthcare without political interference. In the Nevada legislature, he has and will continue to advocate for preserving access to contraception. 


Education
Public education and our kids’ future is Max’s top priority. That is why Max supports a permanent, guaranteed school breakfast and lunch program in public schools. Max is proud to have voted on the LARGEST Education budget in Nevada history, resulting in 2.2 Billion dollars going to Nevada schools resulting in nearly a 20% pay raise for teachers statewide. Max will continue to advocate for increased funding to our public schools and be a strong advocate for our families.


Labor and Economy
Max is a pro-union candidate and strong advocate for working Nevadans. As a union worker with IBEW 357 for 30 years Max understands that Nevada workers are the backbone of our state and the driving force behind our economy. Not only is Max committed to advocating for our working families but he is also committed to pushing legislation that will grow Nevada’s economy and bring more opportunities for employment to our state. In order to grow Nevada’s economy and increase job opportunities Max believes that first workers must feel valued and know that their representatives will advocate for them. That means passing legislation that will guarantee Nevada workers are protected from big corporations, and Max has and will continue to do that in the legislature. 


Public Safety
Max is a firm believer that the safety of the members of our community is a priority. Max is committed to pushing legislation that makes Nevada a safe place for families to live and raise their children. For this reason, Max has been a strong supporter of our police, firefighters, and first responders, ensuring they have the resources they need to effectively protect our communities and themselves. He is a candidate that supports providing law enforcement better tools to keep children and families safe. Max has a unique insight into the challenges faced both in the field and behind the scenes by law enforcement. He has served as a trustee on the civil service board at LVMPD and as a veteran volunteer with the Trauma Intervention Program supporting survivors on traumatic scenes. Max is committed to pushing legislation that will increase training for officers, funding for resources and prioritize mental health policies.


Healthcare and Prescription Drug Costs
Max believes healthcare in Nevada should be affordable for everyone so people are not going without the care they need simply because they cannot afford it. Max believes in putting Nevadans' needs ahead of corporate interest. Max has and will continue to take on Big Drug Companies to lower the cost of prescription drugs, expand medicare, and increase the prioritization of mental health. Assembly Democrats are committed to making life saving medicine affordable for all Nevadans and elevating the quality of care provided in Nevada.  


Immigrant Rights
Max believes in the American dream, and that not only does our country represent the land of opportunity, but so does our  state. As a representative of a predominately hispanic district, Max has made immigration reform a top priority in the Nevada legislature as he believes in protecting the rights of immigrants. In the 2023 legislative session, Max spearheaded legislation that would protect the immigrant community here in Nevada.


Housing
Max Carter supports legislation to cap rent costs for seniors and Disabled Nevadans. Max also believes in cracking down on landlords that are charging working families outrageous rent and extra junk fees. Max wants to crack down on big corporations that buy up properties and drive up mortgage and rent costs for Nevada families. Max believes housing should be affordable without Nevada families being forced to work two or three jobs just to afford their rent or mortgage.
